Lineriders is the world leader in leak detection at the pre-commissioning / Post-Turnaround phase of any pressurized system. We conduct traditional helium leak detection, ultrasonic and flir infrared optical gas imaging. 

We developed a proprietary process that uses carbon based gases (CO, CO2, Methane) as a tracer gas in Nitrogen that is then imaged with infrared. This process takes 1/5 the time of a helium inspection, is less labor intensive, just as effective and much safer. 

Our process can put projects ahead of, or back on schedule without compromising quality or safety. With pressure on costs, our system delivers.

We pride ourselves on conducting the most technologically advanced inspections in the world that assure facilities go into production leak free. Our proactive approach assures all leaks are identified before construction personnel have left thereby assuring fulfillment. 

Delivering our mixtures, or creating them onsite, allows us to apply our proprietary tracer gas mixes for use in flir infrared leak detection at start-up.


These two flare stacks vent natural gas to atmosphere while it awaits leak checks at start-up. Our proprietary process shortens this venting time by up to 75%.

This is a leak on a small union amongst other connections. Our proprietary process allows us to identify these leaks at start-up with infrared without the fear of creating an explosive environment. 

This is a leak that would normally go unnoticed without infrared inspections. This particular leak is of our proprietary mixture used at start-up that allows for infrared to see it, but is not flammable.

Infrared Optical Gas ImagingWe only use the newest gas detection cameras on the market. Crews are typically deployed with 2 cameras and 2 qualified and seasoned technicians. 

Laser Methane Detection: Each crew utilizes 2 separate Laser Methane Detection instruments with accuracy as low as .1ppm. Our hand held units are right out of science fiction as they can "shoot" a laser at an area of concern from 30 meters away and determine the gas concentrations. With "sniffer" style LMDs, that can be interfaced with a GPS system , we are able to perform over-the-line pipeline surveys with unheard of accuracy and speed, year round on foot, ATV, snowmobile and horseback

Quantifying: Each crew has an instrument, that measures the amount of gas lost on almost every emission source. These intrinsically safe instruments can tell us in SCFM what the leak output is to within +/- 5% giving us accurate data to be recorded, analyzed and managed.

Helium: For those who use only a Nitrogen/Helium mixture, we are able to deploy our rugged helium detection system and identify leaks on pipelines and facilities without fear of poisonous or explosive gases. 

Ultrasonic/Acoustic: Some air, steam or gas leaks can't be identified any other way other than by listening for the leak with sensitive instruments. Our system allows us to hear leaks even in the noisiest of environments. Often overlooked is losses from internal valve leaks where marketable product goes to flare. Ultrasonic can "hear" these leaks.

Surface Casing Vent Flow: Estimates of 40+% of all oil and gas wells have some form of leakage. SCVF refers to the movement of gases between the production and surface casing and then venting to atmosphere. We identify the vent, determine the vent rate and memorialize it in our Insight Emissions software platform

​This is a pipeline leak identified by Lineriders. The technician is standing by survey lath and is holding a pipeline locator. We have identified almost 200 such leaks.

This is a Molecular Sieve that had all three vessels leaking during commissioning.

ECDA Coating Surveys: We gather, measure and map to scale a multitude of datasets with a single pass over the pipeline. NACE Compliant or Fully customizable, any, or all, of the following information can be gathered:

Depth Of Cover (DOC): Depth of cover / Depth of Water.

ACCA (AC Current Attenuation): Measures the overall condition of the coating by measuring the rate of current loss over distance. 

ACVG (AC Voltage Gradient): By applying our own current, we are able to pinpoint the coating holidays where corrosion potential exists.

CIS (Close Interval Survey): Working with the existing Cathodic Protection System we are able to pinpoint coating holidays.

Pipeline Centerline: We electromagnetically locate the pipeline centerline and log its position withsub-decimeter GPS.

Elevation: We map the elevation changes in the pipeline and are able to profile road, creek and river crossings.

Land Status: City, farm, recreational etc.

Land Use: Crops, Native Grass, rocky, treed etc.

RW Inventory: Notes and maps road crossings, fences, powerlines, rivers/creeks and anything else that lies on the R/W and may affect access.

Leak detection: utilizing the Laser Methane Detection (LMD) instruments, we are able to pinpoint the source of even the most minute Fugitive Emissions along the pipeline R/W.

In addition to these coating surveys being used for ongoing pipeline integrity, we also conduct PDI (pre-delivery inspection) on brand new lines to assure that the coating is integral before delivery is taken.

PIG Tracking: We deploy Pig Tracking equipment to assist in batching, cleaning, drying and internal coating application. We have found great success in determining Pipeline geometry by locating dents, kinks and ovality in the line. We have provided MFL Pigging support for both pre-data collection prep runs and live inspection runs.

Our pig tracking equipment is capable of locating pigs in 2"-60" lines. One of the unique uses we've found for our Pig Tracking equipment is to tether a bi-directional transmitting pig to a Line-Logger Inline Inspection tool (ILI) to locate integrity digs in real-time, saving cumulative error in surface measurement. 

By locating the anomaly in real-time and eliminating surface measurement, the inevitable excavation problems that overextend budgets are eliminated.

Lineriders are masters of the application and manipulation of electromagnetic currents. 

Crews are equipped in the field with the latest, most up-to-date data from multiple subscription based and government data providers. Survey plans, production data, air photos and any other piece of information that can be identified is included in the PreJob Set Up package sent with each crew.

When we reach the limits of conventional locating, we can deploy Sensoft Noggin 250 Ground Penetrating Radar. We have used it to locate non-ferrous (plastic, fibre, stainless etc) pipes.

We can also utilize our Pig Tracking System to locate non-ferrous lines by launching and pushing it in small increments and locating it from the surface.
